Digital Storytellers for Social Change – or DiSSC – is a participatory video-based storytelling technique. The DiSSC model is all about building people’s capacities so that they can design and tell their stories in a way that is engaging, effective, and can lead to a positive change.
We believe that stories, if told in the right way at the right time to the right people, can be powerful way to bring about collaborative social change.

The DiSSC Model
Digital Storytellers for Social Change (DiSSC) is our flagship project, DiSSC is a participatory video storytelling technique that empowers individuals to become powerful storytellers for their communities, by using their smartphones.
We believe that stories, when told in the right way at the right time to the right people, can drive social change.
With smartphones and social media becoming an integral part of life, especially among young people, DiSSC aims to unlock the power of video storytelling.

Empower communities for local action:
Citizens become storytellers who raise awareness to mobilise communities about local issues and design local solutions that are relevant and feasible for them.
Encourage grassroots advocacy:
Through the DiSSC process, social change makers can inspire dialogues between stakeholders and foster a culture of community-led decision-making rather than rely on top-down approaches.
Through our hands-on, interactive, and customised workshops, participants learn to:
Identify key issues and the target audience who can bring change.
Build capacities by providing training and tools for digitala storytelling.
Rescearh, script, and shoot the video(s)
Share videos with target audience to trigger call to action.
Designed for low-resource settings, the DiSSC model prioritises accessibility, ensuring anyone with a simple smartphone and access to a basic computer or laptop for editing can participate in our workshops.
We also identify natural community leaders and train them to advocate for lasting solutions.
Empowered to document their experiences through video storytelling, individuals now become agents of social change, mobilising communities, and key stakeholders to co-create sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
